Contains transcripts of correspondence during September, 1918, from Richard (Dick) Barr, a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Service who died in combat while stationed in France during World War I. Letters from Barr to his parents provide a short description of recreational activity as well as a first-hand account of air combat. Also included is a letter from Rev. George W. Atkinson, who conducted Barr's funeral and burial, detailing the service.
